Um die gleiche Zeit wie im vorigen Jahr, nämlich im späten Mai, begegnen mir nun Vierzehnpunkt-Marienkäfer Propylea quatuordecimpunctata, und das auch hauptsächlich wieder an etwa der gleichen Stelle im Garten, diesmal in der Blüte einer Wiesen-Margerite Leucanthemum vulgare, in der er bereits zwei regnerische Tage verbracht hat.
Totenkopf-, Schachbrett-, Vierzehnpunkt-Marienkäfer oder Schwarzgefleckte Marienkäfer Propylea quatuordecimpunctata gibt es beigefarben und schwarz gemustert, aber auch auch gelb-schwarz bzw. schwarz-gelb, in hellen und dunklen Varianten. Sie zählen zu den häufigsten Marienkäferarten Mitteleuropas, was sich im Garten allerdings noch nie so widergespiegelt hat. – Das Foto habe ich auf einer der Wieseninseln im Garten aufgenommen, am 28. Mai 2021, Lüchow im Wendland, Lüchow-Dannenberg, Niedersachsen.

I think, this little Ladybird is the one with the most (german) names of all, there are also names with „checkerboard“ and „skull“.

Now you’re talking „The 14 Point Ladybirds“ is a perfect name for a girl group. In my demented mind I imagine seven girls with pointy bras on the outside of their shirts like Madonna making up the group. But The 14 Point Ladybirds could be a virtual group. Do you sing? Play and instrument? We could make it happen.
